He walked in through the front door of his studio apartment. A large bag slung over his shoulder, He didn't even change since touching down from the mission, "Jeeze, you look worse for wear." A tall brunette was sitting on the couch having just been woken from her nap. She was wearing a black tank top and panties, "I've been through worse." He replied as he walked in setting the bag down on the table in front of the couch. His entire apartment was furnished by the woman's choosing, not accepting the fact that he slept on the floor of a barely furnished place. "You know you train others how to do this... it means you can retire and just relax." Adam shook his head as he went about taking off the top of his combat vest, as he traveled into the small kitchen, grabbing a beer from the fridge and a bottle of whiskey with a small glass, "We've been over this Claire; they're good, but they still need someone with old school expertise to help them." He passed the beer to Claire. and set the vodka down on the table after opening it. He took a few sips from the bottle before pouring himself a glass and pulling things from his bag, files, and various electronics; mostly older stuff with beaten up outer casings and such. "Business as usual with you. You know even I take a break once in a while." Adam shrugged taking apart a few of the electronics and removing certain pieces and breaking them, mostly trackers and the like. Claire relaxed on the couch, sipping from her beer. Adam was a mystery only because he rarely even liked to talk about his past.
She'd been with him for a while now, she originally met up with him after hearing rumors about someone taking back older ruined cities in the mid east like Chicago. She'd been sent in from the President of the W.R.A. to get information and when she did finally meet him and saw the work he was doing to stand against the inhumane laws of the old U.S., She and the other North American B.S.A.A. members began lending their support which lead to a sort of treaty between the W.R.A. and the thing that had grown into it's own small country. But as much as she'd like to call him a friend and partner, she knew very little about him due to his cagey nature. Adam pulled out his laptop and began to hook up a small black box which then hooked up to the other electronics. The W.R.A. trade and foreign aid treaties had helped the region grow in a lot of ways, technology was one of them. The black box was a decryption device which was running and downloading things to the laptop. Adam leaned back finally and Claire took advantage of the moment by re-positioning herself where she was leaning against him. "You know at this point you're usually supposed to put your arm around the girl." she spoke light-heatedly as she lifted his arm and placed it on her shoulder, before sighing and chuckling lightly; "You're hopeless you know that?"
Adam shrugged; "That's what I've been told." She turned her head to look up at him and positioned herself on the couch to where she was facing Adam and sitting on her knees. "It's true though, you really are. You don't know how to socialize or anything like that. Everything's always serious and broody. You remind me of a friend of mine." Adam took a sip from his drink, "I didn't have much a childhood." She nodded; "I can tell, like I figured you being a B.O.W. and all, Umbrella must have done some terrible things to you." Adam looked at her for a moment with a cocked eye-brow. "What?" It was then he realized he'd been living with this woman for close to two years on and off when ever she wasn't called back to the Republic for a mission or the like and she didn't know a thing about him. "I wasn't really tested on..." Claire looked at him for a moment and it dawned on her that he was starting to open up a little. She held up a finger, "Hold on, I think hell just froze over. I need to get a glass so I can have an actual drink." She teased as she sprung up and darted from the kitchen back to the couch and poured herself a glass from the whiskey bottle.
"Well... where do you wanna start?" Adam asked as he took a sip from his glass. "How about why you're so anti-social?" Adam sighed and took another sip. "I'm not, actually... well... I wasn't at first. I used to joke and have a few friends but that kind of goes away when you've been fighting a war since you were fifteen." "So you were a child soldier?" Adam's response came from behind his glass; "Kinda..? Blu-Umbrella had this thing when they created Human B.O.W.s, they looked like humans ranging from different ages from fifteen to thirty-seven. Sort of an army incognito kind of thing. I was what was considered one of the failures, and I was going to be decommissioned. Ended up being woken up from stasis by Alice." "You mean the leader of White Rabbit five years ago?" Adam nodded; "Yup, but back then we were just another Anti-Umbrella Organization in the midst of a nation-wide crisis. We were the biggest group but we weren't well known except by a few other groups including Hellsing. Either way I was fifteen, and to me that was my birthday. For three years Alice went around finding others like me, that's how white rabbit came to be although it was unofficial." "Wait, if you were part of a resistance movement that was pre-White Rabbit, which was pretty large why don't you have a lot more contacts. Why didn't the C.I.A. know about you then?" Adam held up three fingers, "First, I got separated from the group and lived in isolation when the group broke up after the assault on the Umbrella N.Y. H.Q. Second, I didn't meet back up with or officially rejoin the group until around 2015. By that time, It only lasted a few months before I broke off from the organization. And third, you probably have... I started getting the name the Lone White Wolf, cuz of missions I would take solo." Claire looked surprised; to think she was living with the man who had reports on file on the B.S.A.A. databank. "So why didn't you get in contact with Alice and her group earlier on?" Adam shrugged; "At first I thought it was because I was on a mission, turns out that was a half truth... Alice and an Umbrella Executive named Keto Serroth were keeping tabs with one another and Alice was conducting a wild goose chase. I was pretty much abandoned by my mother figure because at the time I was degrading." Claire kind of slumped. "That's... Kind of fucked up." Adam chuckled, "It gets better, she even had Keto send a bounty Killer after me, and didn't make any attempted contact until Amy and I met up with Annette." Claire blurted in for a minute; "Amy? As in Amy Grace?" "Yeah..." "Shut up, there is no way you know Amy Grace." Adam looked honestly confused for a moment, he knew that Amy had gotten quite a reputation for herself over the years during the time when Sears was still alive but he had no idea how big. "Yeah, I do, she and I were actually brought out of stasis around the same time..." "That's... kinda cool."
The conversation about Adam's past went on for a while, like an hour or two, it involved lots of drinking and laughing and it actually showed Adam had a bit of a human side. It was turning out to be an actual good night, "So... You and Amy, did you ever... You know?" "What hook up?" Claire nodded; Adam shook his head. "No, and we had plenty of times where we could have, and even had others hint at it. The most acknowledgement I ever gave of my feelings towards her was a note I left for her cuz she was on a mission when I was deploying for mine. Haven't seen or heard from her since." Claire let out a small laugh; "Wow you really are hopeless when it comes to women aren't you? About as oblivious as a rock." She pushed Adam over onto the couch and climbed on top of his lap, playfully pinning him down with her hands on his chest; "Her loss though, I'll be a bit more obvious." She leaned in to give him a kiss and he rose up a little to meet her half way until there was a rhythmic beep on his laptop, a video conference request. Claire stopped and drooped her head groaning a little, she knew what that call meant... "This makes five times now..." The other four times were just because he was so oblivious to the idea of getting any kind of action. She got off of him and answered the call for Adam just as he sat up to see the usual screen.

"Is anyone else there?" One of the Synthesized voices spoke from the other line. Adam responded; "Only you know who." Adam's answer was enough for the other three crown images to switch over two actual videos, and Adam did the same sipping from his glass. Claire popped her head into frame; "You all owe me; I was REALLY close this time." Whisper was the first to speak, "My fifty dollars is safe then.?" Annette was next to speak up; "Dammit Adam, are you drinking again?" "I'm always drinking on my off time. What's going on." "We've received a message from the old White Rabbit channel; specifically addressed from you. We think it might be Alice, we've also intercepted messages from several other sources including one from a J.White." Claire moved away from the couch as Adam and them began to talk; this was a nightly thing between at least three or more of their group. She dipped towards the bathroom to take a shower.
"Most of what I've dug up tonight seemed to be more recent stuff. Plans, names, lists and so fourth. All the electronic stuff is decryption still, but the fact remains a lot of the old school Umbrella C.E.O.'s and upper members are still around and are working their way into the fabric of the east coast. As much as I hate to admit it; Serroth was right... Something's happening, we need to send word out soon to the ones bringing illegals to us that they not only need to double their efforts, but they also need to start being more cautious with who they bring in." There was a pause before someone spoke up; "What do you mean be more cautious?" Adam didn't speak for a minute before taking a sip from his drink. "They have plans for most of the B.O.W.s in the internment camps; and they're working in cooperation with this GenTek industry as well as four more industries including Wilpharma, TriCell, and R&R Pharmex." One of the others on the conference call spoke next; "Three of those four are overseas companies; what do you think the connection is?" Adam shook his head; "So far, barely any except that TriCell in Asia, Wilpharma in Europe, and R&R Pharmex in Russia are all linked back to GenTek. GenTek so far is the only company to have ties with Umbrella as far as assets and financial gains are concerned, And right now GenTek is the biggest lobbyist in the Eastern Congress towards harsher B.O.W. laws." "So you think..." Adam cut the speaker off. "It's a concern. One I need to look more into. Anyways, I have a lot of work to do so let me get to it." "Adam, about the messages?" Adam stopped; "Fuck both of them." Adam signed off of the conversation before leaning back on his couch. watching the progress bar of the decryption window crawl. Contemplating answering the message attachments he was sent.
