Sinners & Saints is set in a near future city, Saint City. People come to Saint City for an opportunity to become great. Regardless of their professions they're all the same, trying to become a legend in their field. Bounty Hunters, Demon Hunters, even your hot dog vendor on the side of the road. A city of fifty million working its own eco system, founded on the blood of the Seraphim Accord, host to violence, demons, strip clubs and the occasional church, it is here people come to live for a while before they die a legend.
As soon as he heard the clinking of the grenade into the room Adam tucked behind his cover, closed his eyes and plugged his ears. This seemed like a standard military breech, he peaked around the corner to pop off a few shots only to find Arix, Chambers and The new woman taking care of most of everything. Adam moved from cover to cover before popping out of it and firing from the left of the door, a grunt fell with a bullet in it's head, two more shots followed just to be sure before Adam returned to his cover. He wasn't much use here currently.
Chambers moved to the door and put his hand on Arix's shoulder, he looked around him and a bullet caught him in the shoulder, he turned away from the door and moved forward powering through the door and grabbed the closest person on the left side of the door pulling them inside, he used them as a shield as he fell back into the room onto his ass and began stabbing the soldier with his knife. He flung the guy away from him and rolled back into cover, the bullet that lodged itself in his shoulder had fully pushed out of his body.
"Adam, light the ground up in front of them so we can get out of this death trap," Chambers said, they were boxed in with no other exits and there would be more soldiers on ExCell's end pretty soon, they had to ghost the zone quickly or get captured and executed.
Arix slid down the wall sitting down, he rolled over and opened fire from foot level clocking two kills and rolled back into cover, "oi, Chambers, what happened to your hair? You finally decided to get rid of the mullet?"
Arix laughed and tossed the guns aside, they were worthless to him, he was a horrible shot and the targets he killed were all by chance at this point. He got up opening his cover up to someone else and waltzed over to the side of the room grabbing the panel off the side of the wall and pulled it free breaking it easily. Arix split the panel apart until he had a nice jagged makeshift sword, he didn't expect to cut anyone in half easily but he did want to stab someone with it plenty. This was what made him one of the most terrifying people back in 2005, the extreme rage and bloodshed he was truly capable of.
Chambers gave the command over to Adam but Arix was already on it, he rushed out the door getting blasted with bullets as he ran and jumped the first target he saw stabbing it over and over again until it stopped moving. The targets outside began firing on him and when he looked up there was holes throughout his flesh but his eyes were blood red with rage. He danced around gun fire moving so quickly that even the ExCell members couldn't keep tabs on him as he tore through them. The distraction was enough for Chambers and crew to move out of the room.
Adam nodded just as Arix had taken about mercilessly slaughtering anyone in front of him. Adam on the other hand had a different approach, any survivors that he crossed instantly began to combust and burn. "You might want to pick up the pace." Adam mentioned as he started getting close to Arix, Someone either got a bullet or they were suddenly on fire as he moved along lighting up the way in order for them to make their escape.
Chambers didn't move out of the room yet, the Anderson girl darted out of the room into the fray, she was untouchable. The moment someone targeted her she would blink out of view and rend through them as if they were nothing. No matter where they were no matter what they were doing, if they looked at her she killed them. Chambers was assessing her combat skills and easily ranked them above his own which made her another target.
"Doctor, you ready or not," Chambers asked and the doctor waved his hand at him dismissively. Chambers took to the door, the combat forces were moving away, Chambers looked down at the man he killed then the realization hit him, "Adam! These aren't ExCell!"
It was too late for that realization, the real ExCell team was already in position watching them and waiting. Chambers knew they wouldn't be able to escape now.
Arix wasn't listening to a single word anyone was saying. He had beaten the woman to death so viciously that her torso was torn from her legs, her left arm was jammed down her throat and he was still hitting her trying to break her eyes from their sockets but was only accomplishing making mush. A thundering shot broke his rage finally and he was flung through the air hitting the ground, rolling, flailing, until he hit the building thirty feet behind him slamming his head causing blood to splatter across the wall. There was a hole in his chest that looked like they fired a can of paint through him. He had no breath, his lungs were destroyed his eyes closed and his body went into repair mode on the spot.
"Stand down or I have my team level that building," said a voice over the intercom, it was a very familiar voice, one they all hated, one they would never forget. The man who had caused the entire outbreak in the first place. The one man whom refused to die to anyone, the voice of Hija Himura.
Anderson dashed back like a blur and grabbed Arix by the sleeve of his jacket and rushed back inside dragging him.
"You have less than a minute to come out with your hands up and your weapons left behind," said Hija.
Adam whipped back around to look at Chambers in confusion before he noticed that the assault team was finished and that Arix went flying. Adam Looked at Chambers, his eyes going wide in shock as it dawned on him who's voice that was. "No fucking way..." He was suddenly boiling over with anger as he clenched his fist. As much as he wanted to kill that fuck, he knew that if they went out there they were dead... but they were dead no matter what. "So what do we do now?"
That was a good question, he didn't know exactly what to do, they were pinned down by ExCell forces who out armed them. He didn't have a lot of time to think, he knew he could get them out of there at the sacrifice of himself but that would be foolish to do because ExCell was going to hound them through the zone into the Safe Zone regardless.
"DONE!" The Doctor yelled loudly and the Machine powered up, the creases in its body glowed bright green as the generator inside its body breathed power throughout its body. The already colossally large machine stood up taller than before as its parts calibrated into place and finally its eyes opened and they shined light red, "Jack! I need an exit!"
The machine nodded to Doctor B and turned to the back wall and placed both hands on the wall, it roared loudly with a mechanical human yell and its arms began jack hammering into the wall over and over again breaking through it slowly.
"Chambers, the man up there is bluffing. He can't blow this building away unless he has a literal bunker buster on hand. I im-" there was a shot from a building across that tore through the side of the building and hit Doctor B in the stomach and ripped him in half, it was a stray round from a Rail Gun because the next shot missed everything by a mile as it tore through the building. It seemed as if the sniper was up there taking pot shots hoping to hit someone, he didn't have much to lose after all, it was a tactic Chambers often used on buildings with soldiers inside when he had a surplus of ammo on him. The Jack Machine looked over and saw the Doctors corpse and looked back to the wall and continued breaking through it.
"Get away from the walls and the doors," Chambers yelled and dove to the other side of the room. He combat rolled over Arix and pulled him onto his shoulders in mid roll and posted up next to Jack as he pulled through the first layer of the wall. Anderson grabbed Adam by the wrist and pulled him to her, a second later where he stood was torn apart by another shot.
"Jesus christ!" He yelped as he was just barely missed by the round. He took cover with Chambers, "How the fuck do people keep getting a hold of those damned things?" They were pretty much stuck until that machine-man could get them out of the building. He hated, hated being in situations like this with no ability to run or anything. It was one of the reasons why he didn't enjoy going into facilities or the like in his older age. "Wish that thing would go faster."
"Jack, pick up the pace," Chambers said and the machine looked over at him and got an angry look on its face then turned back to the wall and lifted both arms over its head and began hammer fisting into the wall which proved to be far faster as he tore through it in a matter of seconds, something it took the forces out there several breaching charges he did in less than a minute. The moment it split through it was hit by gun fire but the machine rushed forward outside and began roaring loudly in anger, it tore through the ground forces out there quickly ripping them in pieces like they were paper. Chambers motioned for Adam to follow, he was going to play it safe and keep low and quiet.
He dashed out the front of the building and straight across the street into the ruins of the next building. He watched over his shoulder and grabbed his pistol to cover Adam.
Adam nodded and bolted through the opening taking advantage of his speed and heightened reflexes in order to avoid bullets and line lines as he booked it towards cover away from the building. He landed a running knee into the skull of a shooter before stabbing the soldier in the neck his with knife and opening the assailant's throat. He got to his feet and got behind cover getting his pistol ready.
"We've got to use that Machine as cover," Chambers said, as he said that Anderson burst from the building quickly and dashed between targets and arrived alongside them, the two men she crossed both fell in pieces, "ExCell is on our trail so we need to get away from them as best as possible. Arix is in deep healing, he's going to be down for a while, so we're on our own here. Anderson? Is that your name?"
"You can call me Alex if you'd like, but I think that's also your name," she replied.
"It is, but no one calls me that, Alex, can you help us? We can get you out of the zone as well," he replied to her.
"I don't want to leave, that's the thing, I've finally got them right where I want them and they have the big man himself there. I can create a distraction, with luck my team will catch on and counter ExCell," she said.
He pondered over it for a few seconds before looking over between Alex and Chambers. "I don't like the idea of her trying to solo a whole ExCell unit." He said morally torn, "But we need to get out of here. From what I've seen she's more than capable. Me and you need to focus on a route we can take back that will get us close to our support." He replied looking around before firing off a few shots and taking out a grunt. "Whenever you're ready."
"I don't plan on fighting them. I'm just going to cause them as much trouble as possible," she replied.
"Do you," Chambers said and nodded at Adam, "we can back track to Alpha point then rush the safe zone. I have no way of contacting them so we'll be doing this as quickly as possible, no stopping until we're across the line."
Jack flung one of the soldiers over the building with one hand and then the other side of the building exploded sending debris flying, that was their cue. He nodded at Alex and turned and began running through the building and out the back. Alex ran her sword down her sleeve and took a deep breath then moved out the building into the fray.
He nodded; "Agreed, I'll meet you at Alpha point then." He replied and waited for Chambers to take off before he did the same racing through the forests and overgrowth as well as all the run down shit leaving the battle behind. He didn't stop still he got back to the rendezvous and even then it was for a short breather. He looked around for Chambers, though they were running parallel paths back to this point he had lost him sometime mid run. He pulled his pistol and took cover waiting.
