Sinners & Saints is set in a near future city, Saint City. People come to Saint City for an opportunity to become great. Regardless of their professions they're all the same, trying to become a legend in their field. Bounty Hunters, Demon Hunters, even your hot dog vendor on the side of the road. A city of fifty million working its own eco system, founded on the blood of the Seraphim Accord, host to violence, demons, strip clubs and the occasional church, it is here people come to live for a while before they die a legend.
"Still time to just say fuck it and 'rampage' through New York." There was a lighthearted tone to his voice despite how dry it came out. He set aside a second explosive, it looked like the mother of all pipe bombs and had electrical wires going to each sealed in steel pipe, a signal receiver and duck tape holding it together. He took a minute to eat more of his food waiting for the mixture in the molds to harden up a bit more as he turned on his stool. "I haven't seen this A-G-03 on the field yet so it's safe to say if it is active, we haven't been prioritized as targets... yet." He finally got up, grabbing another beer from the fridge and walking it over to Alice. His own beer in his hand as he lightly scanned over some of the other files. "What else did your fr-enemy pass on to you?"
"That's the thing Adam, the Grace series is built to infiltrate, that's how Amy got in so deep and when she was absolutely sure she was face to face with Alice she tried killing her," Grace said.
"She killed the next best thing," Alice said with a sigh, "Seven was my face in the wasteland, she was the hope people needed and wanted while I was out there putting the screws to Wesker and Himura. Doesn't matter though, if there is a third one then we'll have to be careful about who enters our circle from here forward. Knowing Sazons news it's always something worse it's just a matter of figuring it all out."
"We've an incoming call," Grace said patching it through.
"I've got some news for you," it was Chambers, "it seems the ExCell general Benedikt is in town. He's brought the heavies over from the EU side of the pond. That's just a warning, the news is from Andersons mouth, Keto Serroth has been located."
He listened to Chamber's voice. A perplexed look over his face as he heard about Benedict, "He's new..." His expression dropped when he heard the Keto's name and the news that he was still alive... somehow. He put his hands to his face and groaned loudly into them before leaning his head back to stare at the ceiling and let his arms fall to his side. "Does no one know how to die or am I just missing the memo when it comes to the whole clone thing?" He threw hands up slightly, "Fuck it, fuck that guy, he's gotta be one foot in the grave already." He turned to face Alice for a moment looking at her, "You or Seven this time? Cuz I swear to god I put a bullet in that man's skull." He gave a quick shake of his head and threw his hands up again, "Never mind don't tell me I don't really care anymore." He went back to his work, testing to see if the puppy in the molds had dried.
Which they had, he pulled small blocks of home made C4 from the molds and went about working on the electronics which would made them go boom. "This is what happens when we sit on our asses and don't finish the damned job." He was talking to himself at this point as he went to work. "People who should be dead are alive, and people who should be alive are dead."
"Do you just to conclusions and rant like this all the time or just recently," Chambers asked over the com, "Keto Serroth is dead but there is an AI that continues his work, we've designated him by his name because it's the same difference overall. He was at Outer Haven but Ocelot took him when he defected. Perhaps, Adam, had you stayed in the loop you wouldn't be so quick to attack your allies."
"Ignore him Chambers, tensions are high," Alice said.
"I bet," Chambers replied, "I'll forward you the location. It seems he's isolated but I want that AI back."
The line went dead, Alice got up and grabbed her jacket, "too much to hope for a good shower and a good night of sleep. I guess it's hunting time for an AI."
He didn't really bother to respond to Chamber's poke at him. He just kept working, 'If the rest of KING had actually done your jobs like you said you would. I wouldn't even be here TO fly off the handle.' He let it go though, and just let Alice play her typical role that she was known for. Instead he quickly went about attaching electronics to a few of the puddy blocks and finished up the detonator for them. "Here," he said passing them over to Alice. "Let me know how they work yeah?" He went back to pouring a new set of molds and making new electronics. Every demolitions maker had their own signature was of making explosives and it was really easy to tell how they were made or by who. Alice would definitely notice the distinct signature of Olivera's craftsmanship, albeit a little cruder but it was still there.
"No hard feelings but I'm going in fast I don't want to carry around too much," Alice said setting them aside for the moment, she stepped over to the armory while pulling her jacket around her and zipped it up and grabbed a C8-SFW, it was a Colt Model 725, Canadian model M4, this one had a shotgun attachment under the barrel, she slung it around her and pulled the strap tight then grabbed several mags of ammo slipping them into her jacket pockets. She stepped back around the work bench strapping a hip holster around her leg and slipped a Colt 1911 into the holster, on the outside of the holster were two extra mags.
"Grace," Alice said.
"Already got it," she said pulling up a 3d display in front of Alice who instantly swore the moment she saw the map.
"Guess I'm deep diving into time square, right into 316s old lair. Sneaky fucks blew the place up already but they're still hiding the AI there?"
"How do you expect to get in unnoticed," Grace asked.
Alice picked up one of the C4, "I'm not going unnoticed."
"Good luck, have fun." He replied taking a sip of his beer before grabbing his earpiece and pointing to it. "I'll be on coms if you need it." He went back to work finishing up another Improvised device and setting it off to the side. He waited for a few moments, "Alice, do me a favor and don't bring that damn thing here. I don't feel like getting into a pissing match with a computer that has a shit personality."
"I'll just find a nice trash can to dump it in," Alice said as she made her way out of the room through the door.
Grace was standing there catching up on what Amy had done still, it was eerily quiet now...
She headed down the elevator to the ground floor in silence, when she made it to the front lobby she turned on her coms and stepped outside into the moon light. Not even 24 hours and she had done a full 180 based on one single comment made my a man she had never met. It was good to be back on her feet, she didn't really give a shit if no one had faith in her anymore, it wasn't her job to make them feel good about who she was or how she got shit done. They just needed to either follow her or stay out of her way. That was the rational thought going through her head as she walked through the empty district and crossed back into civilized space. When over the boarder she took to hot wiring a crotch rocket, once she got it started she hopped on its back and set off toward the center of the city.
"Hey Adam, we have an incoming call, no one I recognize but this one is on a really old Hellsing channel, she wont shut up," Grace said.
"Everybody and their damn brother..." He muttered, finally turning away from his work and turning towards the display. "Send it through I guess." He went to a second display, fiddling with it so that he'd have Alice's GPS on the map that was originally displayed so he could keep tabs on her while she did her work, he doubted she needed it though.
"Okay," Grace said almost hesitating. A moment later a clearly British accent came though, it was heavy with a posh London twang.
"Heeeeelllloooo does anyone even use this stupid channel?!"
"We can hear you."
"Do you know my master? Are you part of old Hellsing?"
"Excuse me what? No we're not part of Hellsing," Grace said almost confused.
"Well, nevermind, I don't think you can help me. Do you know a big tall broody guy, he's usually wearing like a red trench coat," she asked.
Alice zipped down side streets until she was on the main expressway, she cut through the city and took an exit ramp then swerved toward Times Square. She had a feeling someone was watching her, it was only natural after all this time. She arrived and parked the bike. Alice looked around trying to figure out where the entrance was, she had a pretty good idea it was in the middle but she needed to be sure. As she began walking down the sidewalk she felt it, the feeling she and Amy always shared, the hair on the back of her neck stood up, someone was looking at her, no someone was watching her closely.
He looked confused, confused and annoyed before shaking his head. He was about to motion for Grace to cut the line before something clicked in his head, the voice... the accent. It rang a bell, he'd heard it before but where... old Hellsing... Big tall moody and red... It finally dawned on him who this might be. That big tittied Hellsing Vampire, the other sniper they had. What was her name... it started with an S... "I haven't seen Alucard in a while. Last I heard he was in New York and attacked a Hive. You're better off figuring out what you can on the news." He doubted that she'd recognize him, his voice anyways. They met once when he was first taken to New York and the attack on the Hellsing Manor took place. It was just the briefest of interactions. Either way, he wasn't interested in reconnecting either way. He shook his head and shrugged, "Chambers works for GENTEC and you might have better luck with him."
"Who the hell is- OH CHAMBERS! MULLET! HAHAHAHA OKAY THANKS!"
"She hung up on us," Grace said, she was very annoyed looking, "why was she yelling?"
Alice was sure she was being tracked, and she was positive she knew the location of the entrance. She tossed several blocks of C4 on the ground as she was walking and looked over her shoulder. There, the person watching her. She turned around and kept walking backwards before raising the detonator up into the air above her head.
She pressed the button and all hell went loose. The moment the hole was blown into the ground there came a roar from down below. Something was still alive, something was very pissed off. The ground shook and suddenly there was an eruption of rubble into the air as the creature broke away the concrete near the hole. She was slightly off but that didn't matter anymore. The person following her was in for a surprise now as the creature began hauling ass in their direction. Alice paid no attention to it, she rushed for the hole and dipped into it running down the stairs.
"Oh my god, of all the fucking people," said a voice.
"Shut up Keto, you're coming with me."
"Over my dead body."
"Already done," she replied.
"I have no argument there, you are actually correct, however the figure of speech remains."
A door to her left opened as she was hammering away on the keyboard, it was the original passageway to where 316 had been, she could hear the footsteps coming up the stairs. Alice turned on her com on her end.
"Hey put out a signal boost on all White Rabbit channels. I'm going to need some support here," Alice said.
"...Okay... Good luck with that." He replied to no one in particular when she hung up. Alice finally coming on over coms took him out of his confusion for a moment. "Sure thing." He went over to the main panel and started the sequence and directing which channels and such. Once everything was in place he hit send. "S.O.S. launched on all the channels I could find. Pretty sure Grace just took care of the others I couldn't."
"I didn't do a damn thing, I'm on vacation," Grace said, her form was leaning on the counter going over another document, "holy crap, what the fuck did I get myself into. According to JW I was working on the Umbrella case with Chris Redfield but my known associates were also Harmony Winters and a Wesker whose name I don't recognize, looks like a Miles Wesker..."
Alice heard the beast over head roar out loud in pain, the footsteps coming from down stairs were growing louder. She looked at a monitor where Keto had displayed an avatar of himself and simply said, "I'll talk to you soon," she pulled his AI core from the console and pocketed it in her left pocket and then grabbed her C8 rifle and aimed it at the stairs. To her surprise what entered the room was very familiar...
"You've got to be joking," Alice said.
The windup of a minigun was far from a joke, she hit the deck as the Nemesis type tyrant fired on her, she quickly scattered behind a crate as it lit the other side up. Overhead the ground shook as the Tyrant above ground had been smashed with something heavy, she assumed it was the tyrant considering the roars of pain. She could hear the sirens, the helicopters, everything. It was definitely time to become national news. Alice went back into focus, she rolled out of her cover and opened fire on the face of the Tyrant peppering it and blinding it with well placed shots. This caused a rapid mutation, its head literally twisted off and a large tentacle burst from its neck, the Nemesis just started advancing forward it discarded the minigun, the tentacle started whipping back and forth violently until suddenly it had spikes protruding from it. Alice backed up heading up the stairs backwards as she fired into the tyrants body.
When she made it above ground she looked around and saw buildings on fire, Helicopters were overhead but several of them had been pulled into the ground, that was all the shaking she had felt a little while ago. There was the tyrant toppled over and a single woman standing on top of it. She was wearing a full cloak that covered her face but the ExCell forces firing on her weren't hitting her, their bullets were swarming around her in all directions hitting things behind her but nothing came close to her. She raised a weapon at her side, it was massive, it was an old style rail gun, one similar to the one that 314 had used when backing up 313. She looked over at Alice, her face obscure by a bandanna but her red eyes pierced through the night.
"Uh Adam, the news is lit up," Grace said pulling up the video of time square.
The woman on top of the tyrant corpse turned to Alice and raised the weapon, Alice dove out of the way and when she was clear the woman fired hitting the Nemesis straight in the chest blowing a hole clear through it causing it to tumble back through the hole. She knew what was next after catastrophic damage, Alice knew the Nemesis was about to mutate on a massive level. A sniper round went off through the area hitting one of the ExCell Umbrella helicopters causing it to explode on impact, it wasn't a normal shot it sounded like a MAC cannon going off. Alice suddenly noticed, she wasn't alone there were dozens of people standing around her they had riot shields in their hands and were firing around them and pushing up on the ExCell ground forces. The fronts of their shields had the Umbrella logo on it but a white skull painted across the front of it.
"Hello, Alice," the woman said as she jumped off the top of the tyrant. Everything around them was a warzone but she wasn't worried in the slightest it seemed.
"Who the fuck are you guys," Alice asked loudly.
"We are Dead Cell," the woman said, she looked back over to her soldiers, "You should get moving, it's only a matter of time before they drop the heavy hitters."
Alice doubled back to her bike, as she moved several of the Dead Cell soldiers covered her with their shields, she jumped on the motor cycle and lit it up kicking off the curb she pulled a 180 on it and put it in full throttle. As she moved across the highway she realized there were two helicopters following her. She couldn't bring them back to the Penthouse that was for sure. Suddenly her com lit up.
"I got you baby!"
Another helicopter cut from between two buildings and spun around, it was a black hawk, the side door was open and someone was manning the minigun, it opened fire peppering one of the helicopters across the nose of it causing the pilots to instantly die and the helicopter tumbled into the river. The other Umbrella helicopter twisted around and opened fire on her allies chopper but before its bullets could connect someone on the inside fired a rocket from the side door hitting it square in the nose blowing it up midair.
"CAN YOU CALL ME IN A KILL STREAK?! CAUSE WE ON FIYA! SEE YOU SOON BABE! AIR-FORCE CADILLAC LEAVING THE AO!"
He just listened to the A.I. talk, not really caring to comment aloud what he thought about Amy's previous contacts. She must have gotten sloppy, done something wrong or maybe the Amy he knew died long before that final mission. He didn't know, in fact he was trying very hard to not think too long on it as he finally finished up making all the devices he'd need. The alert about the news stations was a small reprieve from his thoughts. He moved around to the other display finally putting the news up, live reports coming in at break neck speeds about a battle in the area Alice was at, his arms crossed as he watched the craziness. "Good to see she's actually back to doing her own work now." He stopped for a second noticing a woman and a full army dominating the ExCell forces. "Who the fuck are those guys?"
"I have no record on them, lets see, Umbrella logo, white skull," Grace was going through many files rapidly that JW, Chambers, and Nine had sent her, "I've got nothing."
A moment later Alice pushed through the door, she was breathing heavy, she slammed the door behind her, threw off her C8, stripped out of her jacket and pulled open the door to the fridge yanking a beer out of the fridge. She slammed it shut and pulled at her tank top pulling it from her wet skin. She pulled the top off of it and started chugging until it was empty then tossed the beer straight into the trash. She walked over to the display wiping her mouth watching as the Dead Cell unit tore apart the ExCell forces but what was more interesting was suddenly the hole broke even wider as a mutation mass shot out of it, massive tentacles slammed the area and both forces pulled away, one of the tentacles went so high up in the air it clipped the news chopper and a moment later it spun out of control and the feed ended.
Two anchors sat there with their eyes wide open and Alice looked at Adam, "I brought him back. He wont say much since he's not plugged in. I'm gonna hold him until Chambers gets his hand on it don't worry though, no pissing matches."
"Alice who the hell were those guys down there?"
"No idea, they call themselves Dead Cell though," she said pulling her tank top off and throwing it to the side as she walked toward the bathroom, if she was outside steam probably would have risen off her body from how hot she was right now.
He watched in a subtle amazement at how efficient they were as destroying the rival forces. "They're good... friendly or no?" He spoke off offhandedly, not expecting much of an answer keeping his vision on the screen as the mass of mutation began to churn and grow from the hole in the street. "Jesus Christ what did you run into down there?" He called out just as the camera feed cut out and the news went back to the anchors. He switched stations, hoping another outlet was also covering the event and wasn't taken out. If there were new players on the block he wanted to see what they were capable of and determine the best approach when it came to them. "Grace can you patch me into the CCTV's near that area if they're still operational?"
"Some variation of the Nemesis tyrant," Alice said throwing her jeans out of the bathroom, she had started the water getting it warm and was leaning on the counter looking in the mirror into her own eyes, she did this a lot checking her pupils for any sign of shock or worse, "they helped me I'm assuming they're friendly. I want someone to look into them."
She exited the bathroom in her underwear and went over to Amy's closet stepping into it and grabbed the clothes she needed, "their leader or whoever that chick is with the rail gun is definitely Omega level."
Alice stripped down in the bathroom and stepped into the shower, it felt damn good to just have the warm water rush over her.
Grace worked her magic, the entire window went black and twelve different angles popped up, ExCell was wiped out completely the Dead Cell soldiers were chopping away at a mutational mass that had broken free from the small room it was confined in. The cloaked woman no longer had her rail gun in her hands instead she was front and center with a heat sword chopping away at the mass that used to be the chest of the tyrant trying to get to its heart. Every time its tentacles came crashing down toward her they were blocked by some sort of invisible barrier of some kind and then exploded as if they were being crushed by some sort of force.
The police wanted no part in this, they were staying far back from the monster as Dead Cell continued to pressure it with steady gunfire.
"These guys are legit bad ass, holy fuck where were they in 2015?" Grace was giddy with excitement in her voice.
Suddenly a large chunk of the tyrant was just lanced off and its guts spilled from that side, Dead Cell forces moved to its left side and began opening fire on its wound causing an ear splitting roar that they could hear all the way across the city.
"No fucking way those things still exist?" His reply was in regards to the Nemesis creature she talked about. He continued to watch the unit move and just begin ripping into the Nemesis. "I think..." He watched the tentacles hit some sort of invisible wall. "I think... we might've..." His heart was thumping in his chest he could hear his own pulse in his head he could feel an anxiety attack begin to try and take control. He watched closer trying to keep himself together, the roar which echoed through the city, even their part of time finally distracted him long enough to break out of the attack and regain his composure before things got worse. He turned away from the screen for a moment stumbling towards the kitchen to grab a beer and try to calm his damned nerves.
Once the bottle was to his lips and half of it was gone he turned back towards the screen propping himself against the fridge and breathing heavily as he regained himself. There was only one time that an attack that severe gripped him uncontrollably and it was when he and Amy were on a mission back in 2015 and came across Tyrant 320. "I think we met their leader back then..." He barely managed to choke that out between breathes.
"Yeah I think so too," Grace said watching as the woman stepped away from the now still Nemesis mutation. She looked straight at one of the CCTV cameras and winked then her men gathered with her, one of them handed her, her railgun back and she put it on her back. They casually walked off the street into a nearby alleyway. Alice cut the water off and stepped out, she looked out the bathroom door as she dried herself off.
"Anything I miss?"
"That Nemesis is dead," Grace informed.
Alice completely dried off and pulled on her underwear and pants. She exited the bathroom unfolding a shirt that was clearly not her style, Amy was definitely punk rock when she lived here. She pulled the Nirvana shirt over her head and pulled at its hem to straighten it out as she made her way back to the kitchen area, "you okay Adam?"
He didn't say anything, fighting off the rest of that feeling when the woman winked at one of the cameras. He shook his head and closed his eyes just as Alice spoke to him, once he regained his composure he opened the fridge, pulling a beer and passing it to her. "I will be." That was never fun, and although the things that used to set him off never effected him after his first encounter with 320 triggered a rewrite of most of his programming... That woman caused it in an instant. "I think I know who their leader is." He finally spoke again making his way and sitting down onto the nearest couch. "Grace, is there anything about an encounter a woman back in 2015..." He tried to recall the incident in his mind without frying his brain out all of the brief flashes he had was a large helmet that obstructed the woman's face and numbers printed on it. "The numbers, 320 are the only thing I can really remember."
"Dude," Grace said quietly, "Amy built an entire portfolio on 320, aka Harmony Winters the mother of the 300 series. Here I have some old JW files already primed."
Grace swiped over pulling up an entire profile of 320. Alice walked over to the window examining the files then she looked over at Grace, "can anyone see us from the outside?"
"No," Grace said, "funny, I actually used to imagine standing there looking at displays and someone just on the building across looking at me."
"What does she have on 320s movements after 2015," Alice asked.
Grace pulled up a display of about two hundred different files, some pictures some video, some audio. It would take them days to get through it all but it was still there for them to view at their pleasure. A document was opened, listing every location she was logged at and every time her user ID with umbrella was used. There were a number of keywords that were her most looked up words throughout all of this and the number one thing was Birkin. Following his name the most looked up words ranged from Insomnia to different weapons parts attaining to her heat blade and rail gun no doubt.
He didn't bother looking at the display at all, instead he just finished off his beer. "If you want to establish actual contact with her I can't be there to back you up in anyway." He informed getting up and moving back into the kitchen and grabbing another beer, three were left. He'd have to go pick up more eventually. He popped the top and drank some of it on his way back before sitting back down on the couch. "Can't explain it, but I can't operate around her. Everything shuts down and I start suffering from anxiety attacks. Like way back when my programming used to malfunction but so much worse." He hadn't suffered an attack in years... What exactly was it about that woman that caused such a vile reaction in him that even over a camera it effected him? He tried not to think about it too much. He went back to his beer. This changed a lot of things... definitely made his mission a little more difficult, he'd have to work ops a little more carefully to avoid getting the attention of that woman or her group. Even if they showed up to help him who knew what would go wrong if she showed up.
Alice walked away from the screen, it was all giving her a headache, a major migraine, "you're gonna have to figure out how to deal with that Adam, I don't think she's going to be avoidable. She was tracking me every step of the way just now and we're the only ones who knew... I was- there..."
Grace looked over to her, Alice was looking at the floor in deep thought, "no, she's tapping our old channels..."
Grace finally spoke, "I was talking to Adam about that before you got here. Amy was involved with Winters before her death dating back at least two years. Also there was a Wesker she was involved with, I haven't found anything on him."
Alice walked over to the bed and sat down on the edge. It was all making sense now, she wasn't getting sloppy, no one was, Amy had set this up a long time ago. She was an infiltration unit after all, she was doing what her programming told her to do but she had twisted it to her own means getting certain people involved with certain lines. The problem is Alice didn't know which ones were good to use anymore and didn't know which ones Amy sent out to who. No doubt Amy was doing some crazy stuff probably working multiple angles and forcing one group to spy on the other but this was far more complicated than anything Alice had been dealing with.
"Grace, I'm going to call it a night on my end, I need you to do something for me," Alice said, "I need you to monitor every channel for activity no matter how small it may be. Compile the data by morning and lets see which frequencies show up the most."
"Okay," Grace said.
"Until then, I need rest," Alice said standing up and moving to the side of the bed, she kicked off her pants and rolled under the covers.
He didn't answer Alice or even bother to retort. She was right of course, but he could damn well try his best. He was tired but he couldn't bring himself to rest... instead he just sat there for the longest staring up at the ceiling, past events replaying in his head over and over tormenting him until finally he got up, grabbing his Revolver and stepping out through the front door and leaving the penthouse. A little ways down the road, in the wastes he found the old bus bench. It'd be a few hours before any of the satellites would be over his head. Out here was quiet, so dead quiet as he leaned back into the bench and looked up towards the night's sky. The stars well visible as he let the brisk chill surround him, he just stared upwards a thoughts and memories playing in his mind, her voice ringing in his head. It only now dawned on this man, as he sat there for the first time in his life truly alone, his true feelings for that woman. He sighed, "God I miss you..." Too little, too late... Story of his life.
Morning came, Alice stretched as she got out of bed and rubbed her eyes clean of the nights rest. She looked around the room seeing she was the only one there.
"Grace what have you got for me," Alice asked.
"Adam left last night, no idea where he went, I have four frequencies that are nonstop using our channels and listening and about twenty that are using Amy's channels, twelve of them are only listening," Grace said.
"So it's time to back trace them," Alice said.
"Will do, oh and Alice, message from Chambers for your eyes only," Grace said.
"Hit me," Alice said.
"We need to talk, it's time to put the past to bed, White Rabbit, I'll be waiting where the sun goes down."
"Where's the at," Grace asked.
"The docks where White Rabbit was located in 2015," Alice replied. She stepped into the bathroom and brushed her hair and teeth then on her way out grabbed her pants and pulled them on. She got fully dressed and strapped her pistol to her hip, "keep me informed, I'll be heading to Chambers."
The display at the penthouse sprang to live. On it was a high resolution live feed inside the building Adam was in. The Penthouse wasn’t the only place receiving this feed, from GENTEC to Umbrella, even all the way out to Outer Haven was receiving this. Under the feed a simple text read;
'Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems.’
“What the fuck is that thing?” Cried out one of the soldiers, “Where did it come from? Who has control over that damn thing?” Another confused soldier yelled. The orders to fire were given and on screen a humanoid tyrant slowly advanced into frame. Certainly male in figure, it’s skin like a burnt marble color. Its veins glowing red hot. Its right hand contorted with bladed protrusions extending from where the fingers would be. A distortion could be seen coming from it’s body in a heat mirage. The bullets either melted to slag or connected and simply fell to the ground. “Why isn’t this thing going down?!”
Two more groups joined the attack on either side of it. The Tyrant raised its arm and the entire group on his left began to literally boil before spontaneously combusting. It kept walking forward at a steady pace the right group tried to advance but as they grew closer to the creature they all began to collapse struggling to escape the heat radiating off of this thing as flesh and sinew began to melt off of their bones.
A core shaking roar bellowed from the beast as it finally launched instead forward only to take a direct hit from an RPG. It dropped to a knee for a moment. The few soldiers who didn’t turn tail and run celebrating as they tried to finish it off throwing more ammunition towards the damn thing. “He’s getting back up!” The Tyrant did in fact recover, getting back to its feet and shaking off.
“Hit the damned thing again!” Another rocket collided with it, the explosion engulfed the creature but instantly dissipated. Unfortunately for them it had adapted, it took a step and charged forward, ramming its clawed appendages through the squadron leader and lifting him into the air. The poor fool began to struggle and let out a blood curling scream as his skin began to grow visible reader. Massive streams of steam billowing away from his body and his skin bubbling and blistering before finally… with a massive and wet pop burning gore exploded everywhere and a red mist obscured the group. The only visible signs that anything was happening were intense screams of fear and the flashes of gunshots.
More ExCell units began piling in before there was a white flash that ended the feed.
If Amy ever made a report on what happened when she and Adam had first encountered Harmony it would probably have a part in it with a matching description of that exact Tyrant. Further reading would lead to an even more shocking revelation…
Adam wasn’t seen for days after. News reports of another attack, footage of the Tyrant running rampant all over every channel along with reports of the entire block around the building being engulfed in a flash and everything in the epicenter being reduced to a hellscape. The search still on after it had vanished without a trace...
Finally the door to the penthouse swung open, Adam stumbled through. He wasn’t even conscious as he dropped to his knees and hit the floor. What was left of his clothes burned to his blackened and cracked flesh, his veins still glowing and gunpowder stains and bruises riddled his body. His healing factor crawling at a snail’s pace as he laid there, out like a lamp and dead to the world.
She was helpless there was no way for her to do anything in this situation. Alice was out looking for information on A-G-03, Sarah hadn't been back since she left days ago...
It was calm in the penthouse, hours later, Adam was on the couch wrapped in bandages, there was a heart monitor attached to his chest. The smell of a fine meal was in the air, chicken that had been seasoned to be somewhat spicy and there was definitely wild rice, corn, and a side of stuffing with gravy. A large man was crouching in the kitchen, he was wearing a button up black shirt tucked into black slacks and had on dress shoes. He was crouching at the stove being far too large to cook on it like a regular person.
Alice was in the armory going over some of the 1300 files and pinpointing who A.M. was, she had dyed her hair to be more blonde than brown much like she used to wear it back when she ran Wonderland in 2005. There was a snap and Grace yelled, "You have to be more gentle with the cooking utensils John!"
The Mr. X rubbed the back of his head looking at the broken wooden spatula and reached into the pan of rice pulling out the other end and threw them both away then began washing his hands and gabbed a plastic one and went back to sifting the rice. A knock came at the door, Grace appeared by it and it swung open, LJ stepped through her like she wasn't even there.
"You not gonna believe this shit," he began, "President Sadler just announced that the Marines are definitely moving into New York but she said the city isn't on lock down or curfew. Like what the fuck you mean bitch? This place is a warzone. I swear to god her big ass tiddies are fucking up something in her head."
Adam was still very much laid out despite all of the commotion and loud noises that were going on around in the penthouse. His healing factor finally picking up just enough so that his burns were healed. Thin scars spidered from his finger tips all the way up to his wrist on one hand. His over all body temperature had finally dropped to normal levels and his skin was back to it's original tone. Apparently some time someone had clean him up as all the blood and gunpowder stains were completely cleaned off of him. Every once in a while he would shift, or the heart monitor would spike for just the briefest of seconds before it returned back to a more natural state.
It was business as usual in the penthouse. LJ sniffed the air and licked his lips, "Man I hope that mothafucka can cook cause that shit smells so good."
"LJ whats the word on the street," Alice asked.
"Well, everyone saw the news on his end," he pointed at Adam, "and they saw the shit you and Chambers pulled. Talk radio and podcasts are blowing up about this Dead Cell group but more importantly the bow world out there is all talking about you. Seems a lot of them were still hiding who they were but now that you've been in the picture again they lookin to get in with you again. The real you this time."
"John," Grace said peering around him, "how does it taste."
The Mr. X gave a thumbs up as it chewed a spoon full of rice. He then held up five fingers.
"To be honest, I'm glad you're back at it again, but without Nine here or Seven the chances of you running anything big is slim to none. Lets keep it ol school like back in the day."
"I wish it was that simple LJ. We'd be going against an army, a madman, a series of s class tyrants and the most illusive man in the world. Goddamn what I'd do to have Amy back," Alice said holding up the picture of X-A-03 who looked just like Amy did when she was 18 but her hair was brown instead of blonde. Grace appeared next to Alice.
