Sinners & Saints is set in a near future city, Saint City. People come to Saint City for an opportunity to become great. Regardless of their professions they're all the same, trying to become a legend in their field. Bounty Hunters, Demon Hunters, even your hot dog vendor on the side of the road. A city of fifty million working its own eco system, founded on the blood of the Seraphim Accord, host to violence, demons, strip clubs and the occasional church, it is here people come to live for a while before they die a legend.
"You and me both." He said in regards to the safe zone and their only way in or out of Manhatten. "They retaliated against us by killing Chambers... Looks like they retaliated against Alucard with Integra." He sounded very displeased, "You'd figure we'd have some advantage, some way of hitting them harder than they can hit us but we're just taking small jabs while they're nailing us with precision strikes every time." He still kept his arms crossed starring off into space. "You'd think a seventeen year long apocalypse would've depleted their fucking resources by now... But apparently not."
"Hmmm, depleted their resources," she was clearly deep in thought, "you're a fucking genius, we're looking in the wrong locations. We're looking for their labs and facilities where they're developing things not where they're storing resources or buying from. Holy shit, do you have any connections with anyone on the down low that might be able to trace high budget transactions in the last week leading up to the outbreak? If you can, then we might have a lead there and we can probably start hitting their providers and give them no choice but to act out against us."
She was clearly excited, "Like, there's a good chance they'll try to retaliate but what are they going to try this time? Killing Big Boss? Fat chance there, I feel like they're completely afraid of that man and there's nothing they can do to hurt me or you... Well, is there anything they can do to hurt you more? I know about... Amy... nevermind please excuse me I'm overstepping, I apologize profusely. Either way..."
"I think... I might know someone.." He replied to her question, all these years... so many friends lost because they all were too stupid to fight differently. Or even come up with that kind of approach. He only just thought about it when he said something just then and she began actually working out the details. She then began to ramble on, knocking Adam from his train of thought. He held his hand up as soon as she began to apologize. "It's fine." There was a definiteness to his tone when he said that, like he wanted to drop the topic of Amy's death. The truth was that since that Jolie girl had pulled up Amy's old iDroid and given him all her audio files that were addressed to him... he as fighting back flash backs of the last night he ever saw Amy. "At this point there isn't a whole lot left they can do to me short of killing me. So I'm game if it takes them down."
"Alright then," Seras said taking out her smart phone and looked it over seeing a text message that had just came through, "Oh shit?"
She mumbled the text out loud, "Miss Victoria I'll have you know I am safe and in a medical ward in the GENTEC facility. Alucard has rescued me and is about to set assault on one of Umbrella's hives. Keep your nose out of his business for now and begin planning a counter attack, for Ser Integra. Walter."
A smile crossed her face, she had thought the worst of the upper management of Hellsing and was glad to see at least Walter survived, "Alright, get me some details I can forward them to my outside man, in the meantime too I'm going to go get geared up and tackle a 1300 that I know is idle in Long Island, time for a counter attack from two fronts I think, that way Umbrella knows we're not fucking around."
He nodded his head slightly, "That works. I'll get in contact with the person then have LJ hit you up once we have something worth working with." He said his good byes and headed back up to the penthouse, up the steps and into the building. He was looking for that Jolie chick, even asked a few of soldiers just to see if they had seen her.
One of the soldiers told Adam to follow him, he lead him up to the third floor and down a hall away from several rooms where they stored an actual fuck ton of iDroids, laptops, desk tops, pretty much anything they could get their hands on from fallen soldiers and Umbrella related facilities. There was extremely loud music blasting from the half open door, purple light flooding the hall, at the end next to the door was a graffiti skull with a black light pointing straight at it making it glow in the darkness. It looked like she had taken out the light at the end of the hall just for that purpose. The Diamond Dog soldier knocked on the door loudly and then pushed it open.
She didn't hear them of course, she had her back to them, the back of her sweater had been cut up to resemble a skull, her orange sports bra clearly seen through it. She was bouncing to the music at a standing desk typing away on a keyboard, there were about ten extremely large monitors surrounding her, she was going HAM on the OS Amy had created replicating entire sections of it onto another screen while at the same time was running a decoding program to hack into the passwords that locked out much of the devices personal information. The thing was, her programs usually worked much faster, they were getting throttled by gateways which was making this fun for Jolie.
Jolie jumped and looked over her shoulder, she reached over cranking the dial down on the music, "SUH?!"
"You got a visitor," the DD soldier said, the music was still pretty loud so he was yelling, so she reached over again and dropped it down and noticed Adam.
He followed the guy to her room, definitely a rocker aesthetic. He could admire that, especially her taste in music even seemed to get a not bad reaction from him. He waited for a moment as he came into the room with the soldier who got her attention. He waited for the soldier to leave, "Hey, If you're not busy I might have a slightly easier job for you than trying to get through Amy's programming." He replied walking deeper into the room and taking a look around at all the tech that was stored in the room. "Was talking with an old acquaintance and we came with an idea to hit Umbrella hard as fuck." That's how he started the conversation as he picked up a laptop off of the top of the pile and looked at it, he never took a moment to realize how old some of the tech that the old Umbrella branches used was.
"We're looking at trying to hit their resources. Think you're up for that?" It was more of a playful tone than a doubtful one. Though honestly the task was going to be monumental, they never knew where Umbrella's money was being kept or for that matter even bothered to check where or how they were always managing to stay a float even during the apocalypse. "There were like three banks that operated from 05 and are still operating today. That might be a good place to look."
"This should be pretty easy to be honest. Wire transfers are pretty notorious for being easy to track even though they are impossible to intercept nowadays. Given that Umbrella probably holds their funds in fake accounts it's easy to assume that all of their money would be funneled through one account then distributed to multiple others. Which means the main account probably takes on the name of a major company and the others are subsidiaries," she was talking a mile a minute using a third monitor now to open up several programs each one linking to different channels.
"What also makes this easy is that in our modern day there are three branches on the West coast of America, five on the East, about a dozen across seas and very few people wire transfer money, companies do it all the time but never in huge amounts. So with what I've told you so far, it'll take a few minutes to triangulate money moved around for.... lets say two weeks before the new year, that gives us a pretty wide frame of time and puts it after Umbrella made some big moves top side."
"Then we narrow it down to R&R Pharmex, GENTEC and Blu-Umbrella holdings which all still exist, to see if anything moved to or from those accounts," Jolie hammered away at her glowing keyboard, each key she pressed lit up purple while the base color was white behind the keys, "R&R Pharmex accounts have had some activity recently but nothing huge, all going out, it seems their holdings are still pretty sizable, here we go though, the GENTEC account is still active but is linked to three other accounts under initials. Looks like these are pension accounts however so that's why they haven't been frozen yet. Blu-Umbrella accounts are all frozen since about 2006, wonder who in the hell did that."
"Let it run for a bit longer, it's still finding more links, they're just not popping up with names just yet," as she was saying that two popped up and several more began to filter in.
Damn, so it wasn't as simple as finding their assets and money and cutting it off. Someone already had and it still didn't put a dent into them. There was no telling how long this might take though, and he was getting hungry. John was making food like he usually did around this time in the afternoon, "I need you to keep this super hush though for now. Until we actually have something we can really work with." He grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, writing down a string of numbers, letters, and code. "Use this to get a hold of me. It's encrypted as hell but it'll give you a direct and secured line to contact me with. We used to use it in KING all the time." He passed the paper over to her and then patted her on the shoulder. "I'm gonna get some food and a shower. Let me know what you find yeah?"
"Ooooo, so we're doing some James Bond shit yeah? Gonna fax you over an answer to your wrist watch," she said with a wink pinning the piece of paper to a corner monitor of her desk, "I'll see what I can come up with. Don't worry my dude, no one understands half the shit I do anyways so this is just between the two of us."
She turned the music back up getting back to work on three things at once again, this kind of stuff didn't slow her down. It was all keeping her entertained as she had more to do than just sit around cracking devices left and right. There was no real time table on her work it was more or less just a matter of time before she broke into machines and passed on important information. He job was kinda hush hush top side, they were paying her pretty well if there was anything sensitive found on the devices.
"Cool." He gave her a thumbs up as he left the room noting the location of it bobbing his head to the music lightly before walking down the hall and back up the steps to the top floor and into is room to grab clothes. He needed to work on the shower in his place a bit, it still ran cold but mostly because the nob for hot was stuck and he didn't feel like breaking it. Instead he opted to go to Amy's place. He knocked on the door just to let anyone who was there know someone was coming in then stepped inside. "Any news on where the hell Alice is?" He asked as he walked in, he was only slightly concerned given that he hadn't seen her in a few weeks. Hopefully she didn't get herself kidnapped or killed or anything like that. "Also I'm stealing your shower for a bit. Mine's still fucked."
Grace and John were the only two in the room, Molly spent a lot of her time running food and drinks to the soldiers on the ground, she liked to help in other ways, also spent time with the sick and wounded helping ease their wounds.
"About Alice, she finally contacted me recently saying she's okay she hasn't been able to get in touch due to her phone getting destroyed from a fall, she's currently working on getting back soon after she finishes up with her recon," Grace didn't sound too convinced, "sounds more like she's stalling because she doesn't want us to get in the way of something she's doing but either way she's safe. Even gave me the ID code to confirm it's her."
John was folding up rolls of Sushi, he already had made what looked like seven dozen of different kinds of styles, he picked up one and threw it across the room to Adam for him to try, it was a spicy crunch roll with friend shrimp in it, not traditional at all.
He caught it instinctively looking at it. He gave a bit of a chuckle, "You know you're supposed to cut these right?" He joked before biting into it and munching while nodding. He definitely approved. "Thanks for the update." He finished the roll in a few quick bites and grabbed a beer from the fridge after making his way into the kitchen and past John. "I might have something in the coming days, until then don't worry too much about it." He finally spoke up, "Also met up with that Jolie girl, she's pretty cool. Got a hacker crush on Amy's old tech though that's for sure." He popped open the beer and took a swing. "Alright shower time." He moved swiftly to the bathroom and closed the door behind him. He turned on the water and sighed, literally slamming back his beer, keeping this shit up was down right exhausting. The night of the argument played out in his mind still, as if it had just happened. He stripped, got the shower started and hopped in once the water was warm.
"Holy shit, no way," Jolie said out loud, she automatically shot Adam a message that just said 'Horzine', followed by a second message asking for him to come see her when he got the chance. At the same time she was compiling data from Horzine straight too a set of quick access files so that she could pull them up on the fly when he did come to her. Likewise she was cracking down on everything from Horzines activities in America all the way to their activities in London, something Seras would know more about given her involvement in hushing the company up.
John finished cutting the rolls setting aside an assorted plate for Adam.
He got out of the shower, dried off and got dressed. He was wearing just a tank top and jeans as well as some sneakers. He came into the main room taking the plate that was handed to him. "Sweet." There were a lot of suishi's here on the plate. He heard his phone beep and he scooped it up, she already managed to figure out how to send a message via the code. She was good. Either that or their encryptions were outdated. "Well damn she's good. Sorry but I gotta run real quick. I'll bring the plate back later." He replied slipping the phone into his back pocket and walking out of the room, down the hall and down the steps to the third floor following the same route he was shown back to Jolie's station. He knocked and pushed the door open walking up next to her and setting the plate of sushi down where there was a free space. He took one, "So what did you find?" He spoke loud enough for him to be heard before popping the sushi in his mouth.
She dropped the music as soon as he came in and grabbed one of the pieces of sushi throwing it up in the air and caught it in her mouth then began to open files on the central screen. On the screen came three images, the first was Horzine Biotic, the company behind the London and Paris attacks of cannibal clones during the late 2000s, the second was a picture of Kevin Clamely, CEO of Horzine Biotech who had gone missing many years ago, following this picture was the final one a picture of Rachel Clamely.
"Okay so what I've got is pretty simple," Jolie began, "there is a company known as Horzine that has a branch in America that seems to be funneling money to several small branch companies, most of those companies are known simply as pharmaceutical companies and several are tied to MEDTEK to some degree or another. Regardless, Horzine is a London based company which caused a bit of a problem in Paris and London around 2008 and 2013 respectively. Originally Horzine was to make super soldiers for the government that could combat against the 103s and other tyrants, well we know how that goes. Instead Kevin Clamely apparently made clones of his dead son and wife after they were killed in an unfortunate accident involving an Umbrella helicopter crash. He teamed up with a German scientist known as Hans Volter and the two continued work on the super soldier project.
"Well fastforward to 2008 when one of the Biotech labs was breached by BSAA agents and were instantly overran by an army of clone monsters. Reports say that Hellsing was involved with the clean up and containment and Horzine was put under fire which didn't stop Clamely who continued his work without their funding, apparently someone else started funding them... R&R Pharmex in the late 2000s. In 2013 Paris was hit by an Outbreak of similar clones, the Vatican organization Iscariot with the aid of Hellsing took out the outbreak after several weeks of constant fighting alongside some mercenaries who originally aided in the 2008 outbreak.
"Horzine went under after that, Clamely and Volter disappeared from the scene and their labs were raided killing most of the clones until around 2015 when a lab in Raccoon city was found. It appears both of them went stateside to continue their work for R&R Pharmex at the time and eventually GENTEC keeping Horzine alive in spirit. They continued to use Horzine as a branch until 2020 when GENTEC was permanently shut down. Following that Horzine Biotech reappeared in the states and funneled over a fuck ton of money recently to one account which then distributed that money to other accounts. There's your lead."
"Well it's definitely a way in." He took another piece of sushi and munched on it. He was working through his mind how they were connected to Umbrella, but he definitely needed more information before being able to plan anything as far as investigations or things of that nature were concerned. "Can you back trace to what groups the money is going to?" It was a shot in the dark he needed to make to hopefully draw more parallels and see where she was going with this. The Ultimate goal was to shut down their income, but also disrupt their means of production, he couldn't do that with what he had right at this moment. Curiously though he wanted to know what exactly the connection between MEDTEK and this other company was... Wasn't Sarah supposed to be the CEO of that company? Would she even be aware of what's going on? He'd need to get in contact with her... and maybe even meet that asshole Arix again.
"All of them," Jolie replied pointing at the companies that only had initials as their names, "every one of them. They're all shells though, probably connected to a handful of pin numbers and credit cards. Some probably even using other peoples names and false IDs, it's impossible to tell exactly where it's going to after its transferred. That I'd need to get into the accounts for and I don't think that's going to be possible from here."
"Of course," Jolie began again, "there is a Horzine Biotech building in upper Manhattan. That might be your best bet to look into. If you can maybe salvage some kind of hardware from there connected to someone with a big name or even one of their accounts I might be able to get an internal look. The other alternative, you can go in the other room and start hacking lap tops and hope one of those guys was a big wig in recent times."
"Not likely." He replied, his tone had a lot of experience as he leaned in to get a better look at the list. "The big wigs always left burner laptops and we usually were never able to get enough information to go on other than small, time wasting strikes." He looked at the address for the Biotech place in upper Manhatten. He'd never heard of them before... Then again that could be where the hell Umbrella was getting it's clones and massive amounts of ExCell soldiers. If not it was still worth looking into at the very least... "Looks like I'm taking a field trip... Anything specific you may need?" He as used to these kind of recovery operations, towards the end of the original Wonderland group he would run recovery missions and even in Seven's Wonderland he found himself doing the same thing with Amy until he got sent of 'eradication' missions.
"Take the iDroid with you, you might be able to get me a connection with their mainframe, if not then I need some kind of inside. Find a CEO's computer, laptop, anything, I just need a hard drive. If you can get me into their network I can do it myself without you sticking around," Jolie said bringing up a CCTV image of the outside of the building from across the street, "the building has been vacant since the start of the outbreak so the chances of you running into anyone down there is slim but keep in mind that they could have engaged protocols on the building to begin creating clones in self defense. If that's the case.... Good luck!"
"That simple huh?" He still had the iDroid Jolie had passed him earlier just not on his person currently. "Alright I'll head up and get ready then." He replied taking another piece of sushi. "When you're done with the plate take it back upstairs. Try not to freak out about John." He replied and made his way out of the room, and up the stairs to his room grabbing the iDroid and also changing from civilian gear to his old KING fatigues and a combat vest before loading up his main pistol, the Glock 17 tactical with ammunition his back up pistol, a simple Samurai Edge AW-01 with RAMROD ammunition. And his shotgun with plenty of shells this time. He took his wrist monitor and his gas mask too. He passed the door to Amy's place stopping for a minute... nah this was a simple recovery mission, and he already knew who he was going to get as back up if she was still around.
He made his way down stairs reaching into a pocket and dropping a small bundle of bills on the table and grabbing the keys to one of Diamond Dog's armored vehicles. He made his way outside looking around for a very specific blonde haired, big tittied, ditsy British vampire.
Seras was hanging out around LJ's helicopter while he and a couple guys were playing poker on a table next to the helicopter. She was looking over LJ's shoulder and shook her head at him and he looked back and gave her a look like, 'bitch please', then dropped his hand, two Diamond Dogs dropped their hands one had a straight flush all LJ had was a three of a kind.
"Son of a bitch," he said loudly.
"I told you so," Seras said with a laugh. She patted him on the shoulder, "I gotta go get ready."
"Gotta go chew some bubble gum and kick some ass," she said fist bumping him as she walked away toward Adam who apparently was already looking for her given her was staring straight at her, "hey, you got something?"
"I might, some business called Biotech or something from the U.K. set up shop in the states a while back. Been wiring money to a bunch of different places." He replied as she walked up to him. He waved past her over to LJ, probably losing at cards again. "Gotta go raid the place though if we want any more intel about what the hell is up with them." He finished his sentence and looked around, specifically trying to find where they kept the trucks and humvees and shit before ultimately tossing her the keys. "Something about clones too or some shit. I'm working out a loose connection that they might be the ones behind why Umbrella has such a huge and almost unending army when it comes to ExCell forces." He finally shrugged, "It's a start and definitely better than what we had previously."
"Horzine Biotech," Seras asked, catching the keys and tossing them back to him absent minded, "count me in, I put a dent in their operation in London a good while back. Their head man cloned himself and made his clones monsters and stuff, minigun, rocket launcher, some kind of Alien crab claw tentacle shoots out of his chest, weirdo. Lemme go get dressed and get my gun, can't wait to try out my rifle in a close quarters situation."
"Be back soon, don't leave without me, or I'll have to beat you up when I find you," she walked past him and into the penthouse building moving to the second floor where the locker room was and the armory. She had her own storage trunk set up in the armory and opened it grabbing her clothes and her rifle heading to the locker room. She undressed from her workout attire and pulled on the green light weight clothing and laced her boots. She rolled her sleeves up and buttoned them and headed back out of the armory holding the rifle by the top bar.
"Yeah sure no problem." He caught the keys again, that obviously didn't work... When she returned he was sitting on the steps of the building waiting for her. He already had the truck pulled up and waiting with the engine running and the driver seat door open. "You ready?"
"Ready as ever," Seras said walking down the stairs, "We're going to have to get through some ExCell most likely, they'll probably ambush us on the way out. Guess we'll see."
She pulled the passenger side door open and pulled herself in sitting down and setting her rifle down. She kicked her feet up on the dashboard and crossed her legs as if she was going on an extremely long road trip or something.
Well that settled who was driving... then again given that she probably wasn't used to driving in the U.S. that probably made sense. He set his shotgun between the driver and passenger side seat and climbed in, closing the door behind him. He put the truck in gear and drove off headed for the bridge, god he was thankful that he learned how to drive one of these things way back when he was out west. Hell Claire wouldn't let him do anything until he learned how to actually drive a car which was kind of a plus. "So what exactly are we looking at in terms of security when we get to the building?" He asked, trying to get himself ready for this impromptu mission.
"I'unno," she replied fiddling with the bottom of her shirt before slumping in the seat some more and put her arms behind her head, "it's not the security you need to worry about. It's if they activated the reactors and put up the cloners and already started spitting out their roster of goons. We'll figure that out when we get close. Most likely the Zeds, as they call them, will have cleared the area of zombies and taken over the building. Once we make some noise they'll start pushing from around the building to investigate the noise. They're pretty simple creatures but they're somewhat intelligent as well. Some are smarter than others, some are way more dangerous than others..."
Seras was thinking to herself. Then blurted out, "If I remember right... There's clots, crawlers, gorefasts, stalkers, bloats, husks, sirens... Uhhhh Fleshpounders, Scrakes... There's some variations of those as well, but let's not get confused here."
He cocked his head to the side with a slightly annoyed face. He was walking into a god damned super horde with creatures he had no experience dealing with. "Oh... well that just sounds fantastic." The sarcasm was dripping from his voice, he probably should have brought more ammo then if that was case... Hopefully those RAMROD rounds worked against these things too otherwise he was going to be mad. "Heads up." He called out as they were nearing the bridge, unlike most of them he remembered the short cuts that were accessible via the main roads in order to get to the bridge a hell of a lot faster.
"Alright, keep us moving," Seras said sitting up in her seat taking her feet from the dashboard, she grabbed her rifle and tossed it in the back then twisted around putting her knees on the center seat and pulled herself into the back seat twisting the latch for the hatch before pushing it open. She grabbed her rifle and pulled herself up putting her left leg down straight before putting her right leg on the edge of the hatch and pushed against the hatch bracing herself and readied her weapon against her shoulder.
She yelled down into the hatch, "you ready for some fireworks?"
