Sinners & Saints is set in a near future city, Saint City. People come to Saint City for an opportunity to become great. Regardless of their professions they're all the same, trying to become a legend in their field. Bounty Hunters, Demon Hunters, even your hot dog vendor on the side of the road. A city of fifty million working its own eco system, founded on the blood of the Seraphim Accord, host to violence, demons, strip clubs and the occasional church, it is here people come to live for a while before they die a legend.
He hit the roof of the Humvee two times to let her know that he was ready as he began to pick up speed. Thank god the windows were bullet proof up to a certain point which meant driving wasn't going to be too difficult. He crossed over and onto the bridge, picking up a bit more speed for the drive and waited to hear the shots from her gun.
"Oh yeah, they're definitely set up," she said readying her first shot on one of the vehicles, they were definitely waiting for them, she opened fire on full auto each shot rippling across her shoulder across her chest and being absorbed by the frame of the door. The shear power of each shot shook their vehicle and sounded like the fist of god was literally pounding the earth right next to them. Each shot tore through the vehicles, they were custom .700 rounds similar in style to the 13mm Jackal rounds with having an explosive tip, each bullet tore apart the frame work of their vehicles and each shot that landed on one of their persons literally ripped them off their feet and took chunks from their bodies.
"FUCK ME RUNNIN'! I can feel this thing in mah tits!"
The remaining ExCell soldiers had taken cover, she took out their lead vehicles meaning those that were behind would have to push through them or get around them, she assumed they were safe once they cleared the A.O. Eventually she slid back into the Humvee pulling the hatch closed and latching it shut, "this baby is amazing, bet I can fire it faster if I took it off full auto though."
Seras leaned the rifle against the back of the seat and puller herself into the front seat again turning around bumping Adam, she apologized and grabbed the rifle pulling it in the front seat and plopped down finally in her seat.
Each shot she took made him have to fight the vehicle they were driving, and the sound nearly made his ears bleed. Where the hell does everyone keep getting these massive fucking gun shaped cannons?! Mostly because he wanted one, and mostly because it was kind of ridiculous how powerful the weapons Hellsing agents got were. Compared to the way he had to fight the humvee when she shot her gun, her bumping him barely made him have to correct. They were pretty much past the blockade at this point and pretty much close to crossing the bridge. "Do you people even know what the word overkill means?" He asked as he shook his ear with his hand trying to get the ringing to stop.
"Overkill? That's not Overkill, you should see the Harkonnen Cannon two, now that thing is friggin Overkill. I was taking Helicopters out the sky, tanks, I shot a friggin Zepplin down," she said enthusiastically, there was a smile on her face as she told her story, "I mean, this thing is supposed to be a shotgun but I had Walter make it a elephant gun with a full auto feature, I wanted something to fight with at close range because pulling a massive cannon around isn't ideal."
It wasn't like she couldn't just use one of Walters other .454 weapons or even possibly a normal assault rifle. In terms of power her Harkonnen Rifle was weaker than a .50 cal but the fact that she could steady even two or three shots in one spot and the fact that the bullets were explosive tipped made it an insane weapon at close to medium range. In the hands of a normal person they would probably be knocked off their feet and possibly even broke bones in their shoulder.
He shook his head, "Fucking. Insane." That was really the only thing he could say in response to what she just rambled on about. They cleared the bridge and Adam checked the iDroid quickly, there was already a map loaded in courtesy of Jolie. So honestly he just followed that, any zombies that got in the way weren't really a match for an armored Humvee going about fourty down the road. To be fair nothing really was, granted it was a bit of a bumpy ride but the front bumper bar was taking most of the blows as they smashed abandoned cars out of the way if they came across anything. "Dude I kind of fucking love this thing."
Seras had her hands on top of her chest holding her boobs down, "not a fan personally, it's a bit rough on my lady parts. It would be jarring to try to nap in."
"Look I don't know what we're going to be walking in on but the last time I saw these little monsters was like 2013 so expect something different and even expect the worst. If shit hits the fan don't worry about covering me just get out I'll take care of myself and if I have to I'll let it all go... Technically I don't have to obey my restraints anymore given that my master is dead and my sire is on a rampage across the city. I trust in your judgement though," she was very cheerful even though she was talking about some grim outcome, it came with her line of work and she had faced the worst situations and came out on top. She expected him to misjudge her like many others, but the truth was she was one of the highest threats to Umbrella, similar to Alucard possibly even surpassing his capabilities in 2005 which Adam would have witnessed. The difference was she took this more serious than Alucard and didn't try showing off like he always did.
"I try not to up and abandon people in the middle of a mission." He replied, it was a little cold, not enough to mean anything but it got the point across that he wasn't just going to cut and run if it got tough. "Besides, this may be our only chance to actually drop a bomb on Umbrella and whoever else is working with them. I'm not passing that up." His iDroid chimed to life, they arrived at their destination. He stopped the humvee and turned it off in front of a large corporate sky scrapper. He got out looking up, "We need to access to a CEO's computer or hard drive so I'm guessing up would be a good place to start heading."
"Yep, this isn't good," Seras said getting out the Humvee, the area around them was mostly clear aside from a few straggler zombies and a ton of corpses. Most of the corpses were gnawed on, smashed or cut up but in crude ways. Aside from that it was calm, "Expect the worst when we get in, hopefully no one notices until we've figured out what we're looking for. Most likely going to have security corpses and weapon laying around so we should be good on weapons and ammo for the time being. Fifty fifty though on if the CEO is up on the top floor or down in the basement."
"Well that's going to be great..." He looked up and down the building, if only there were a way to start at the top of buildings and then work down. That would be so much easier than just going up the building, then down to the basement then back up to get to an exit. He readied his shotgun and looked over to her, letting her know he was ready as he slowly approached.
"It'll be fine, no worries," Seras said with a wink, she wasn't phased by the grim odds she had given, nothing seemed to phase her though. She pulled back on the slide readying her weapon and nodded to him and moved on the building. So far things seemed quiet, it was common place for Zeds to lay dormant until disturbed if they were quiet enough they could possibly sneak past most of them. While they were 'undead' horrors they actually were alive and required rest. Some of them had shorter life spans though due to their inability to sleep due to pain or adrenaline being constantly pumped through their systems.
"Powers on by the look of it, we might be able to elevator up to the top but whatever is in the elevator or on the other side of the doors might be a shocker, your call," Seras said peering through the shattered glass door.
Damned if you do damned if you don't type of situation. Though typically Elevators were typically no goes as far as situations like this were concerned. Hell even after the outbreaks he never dealt with elevators. Experience told him they were death traps waiting to happen. He approached the doors as well slowly creeping through where the glass had been shattered in order to enter. "Stairs then I guess. If anything we can use it as a choke point should we get over run." That typically worked with hordes of zombies, so he was hoping that was also the case with these things. Only time would tell really though.
"You're no fun," she teased at him choosing the stairs route. She carefully crossed into the lobby, "How many floors are there to this building?"
Seras crossed the lobby noting the corpses both of clots, gorefasts, Horzine employees and security. None of Horzine was heavily geared, they probably hadn't expected this attack at all. Just like that Umbrella took out one of their partners buildings without a second thought... Unless there was something else going on here that neither of them saw behind this outbreak. Seras bent down picking up a security tag off a man dressed in a full blue uniform, "This should get us access to most restricted areas."
"I'm also not the spawn of an immortal vampire demi-god." He replied towards her comment about him being no fun. Unlike her he was mortal and didn't very much like the idea of potentially dying before actually getting this mission done. He moved about the lobby and scanned the area noting all of the corpses, "I've honestly got no idea how many floors there are to this place. The thing is high up though so there is that..." He moved over towards the door which lead to the staircase and grabbed the handle. It didn't budge... "Fuck..." Then she popped up about a key card. "Not fuck... Maybe."
"Fair enough, master has left quite an impression on me," Seras replied. She approached the door Adam was trying to get through and held the ID card up to the scanner where it beeped and the lock on the door let loose, "careful, don't want to get a chainsaw stick in you if there's a scrake on the other side. Would be a shame, you're quite pretty, maybe the scar will make you more rugged."
Seras stopped fooling around and stepped back raising her rifle up at the door waiting for them to begin moving through the building she would take point on his rear, given her abilities it was probably best in the event that stalkers tried to flank them.
If only she knew, were it not for his regenerative abilities he'd be at minimum ninety percent scar tissue. He nodded once she scanned the card and tried the door again, swinging it open and scanning the area with his gun and flash light. He let out a long sigh, 'let's do this.' He worked with his way up the stairs and waited for Seras who he assumed was behind him. "This is going to suck." He still wasn't going to take the damned elevator though...
Seras seemed to glide up the stairs behind him making no noise as she moved, she lowered her weapon, "It's clear for the next three flights, there's some crap blocking us from going up any higher on the fourth."
Adam would noticed a shadow slide across the wall back behind him to her, she had used her powers to scout out ahead making damn well sure they weren't about to get trapped inside a stairwell with a bunch of ass specimens. When they reached the third floor there was a blown out section of the wall and scaffolding twisted into their path, she opened the door on the third and pulled it open sliding into the room quickly and let out a small yelp then put her finger to her lips shushing herself but also signalling to be quiet. The room had what looked like a hundred assorted clots, cysts, and a handful of slashers standing idle all of them with their eyes closed apparently in slumber.
Seras stepped back close to Adam and whispered, "might be able to sneak on these guys. Waste of ammo if we have to tackle them, especially when the upper floors might have worse."
He nodded and followed her up the stairs, 'Damn vampires...' To be fair though if she hadn't done that they probably would've walked into... 'Holy fucking shit...' He choked back a response and only nodded. Following her lead but checking his ammo, maybe enough. But he should've brought his damn Machete... would've probably worked out better for them too. This entire fucking thing better damn well be worth every bullet he would end up spending to get this information.
There was little hesitation in her movements, she moved low and fast avoiding each of the clots as she snaked her way at about shoulder level hoping that if any by chance opened their eyes they wouldn't notice her. Seras eventually rounded a set of cubicles and there was a pretty empty path toward the elevators and the other set of stairs. The problem was there was a gorefast moving around back and forth by the elevators hissing and letting out pained noises. Seras ducked into a cubicle and a second later came out holding a large pair of scissors which she twisted around opening and threw with all of her strength, the gorefast went down as the scissors blasted through its neck and got lodged into the wall behind it. The noise however caused some stirring and Seras began moving more quickly.
The clots had noticed the noise but none of them had seen Adam or Seras just yet and only a few had come active investigating the noise further. Seras motioned for two on the left and she split off toward the right grabbing her gun like a bat she slammed one clot in the side of the head and twisted around delivering a mighty knee to the throat of the other. When both had fallen she skirted around the corner quickly hoping Adam was behind her as she headed for the next stairs.
Adam nodded the moment she motioned for the two on the left. He was tense but he drew his knife and moved in, grabbing one by the head and snapping it's neck all the way around before closing the distance between him and the second one and repeatedly crammed his knife into it's skull until it stopped twitching. He withdrew his blade, wiping it off and joining her where she was. He let out a breath he was holding and nodded, "Me too." He looked around further cleaning his knife, "Where to?"
"Stairs I guess," she said pushing toward the door and using the ID to open it, she pulled the door open peering up and then down noting that it looked clear, "I think we're safe on these stairs, the other ones were probably compromised by that explosion which is how the zeds got there to begin with. Let's just quickly head up and start working back down."
Seras began climbing the stairs quickly using the shadows to scout ahead, so far everything was clear and then they got to the top floor she used the ID to try to open the door but got denied, "Wot?! C'mon I have an ID! Let me in!"
She frowned then her left arm ripped itself into shadows and slipped through the cracks of the door, "Must be some good stuff up here if security couldn't get here either." A moment later there was a loud thunk and the door was pushed open, a woman on the other side looking back at them.
"Are you with Horzine or Umbrella," she asked, she was holding a pistol in her hand.
"Hellsing and he's on his own," Seras answered back and the woman sighed with relief and stowed the pistol behind her back ushering them to both enter the room and closed the door behind them.
"I'm Rachel Clamely, I've been doing what I can to shut this places reactors down under the facility so it can't keep making abominations," Rachel said.
"We're trying to get some information on Umbrella and Horzines relationship," Seras replied.
"First things first, the reactors and then I can give you everything on Horzines files," Rachel said bargaining, Seras looked to Adam, this was his show after all.
He looked around, specifically waiting for her to lower her gun and when she did he moved around the floor at least where they could see that he appeared to not be getting into anything. Seras was also proving to be a great distraction as he found a computer that was actually on and reached into his pocket, He pulled out a small USB drive and plugged it into the back. It as an old hacking device Amy had made back in the day, just plug it in, then send the code programmed into it to whoever you needed to in order to start the hack. He grabbed his iDroid and sent a message to his old hacker friend giving her the code. He returned to the two pistol drawn and flashlight out making it look as though he had actually been combing the area for anymore of those creatures he saw.
He heard the last bit of the conversation, looking around and shrugging, "What choice do we got?" He replied, he was playing along. No sense in being an ass and just ruining everything he just did. "Anything in specific we need to know?"
"The lower labs are full of specimens, but the reactor is pretty close to the elevators so it's not a far walk in the problem is that the heavy hitters are all down there. My father had gone crazy with his work and he's let loose everything from the Quarterpounds to the Fleshpounds."
"Father? Oh right, Clamely, you're Kevin Clamely's daughter," Seras said finally putting two and two together.
"Yes, is that going to be a problem," Rachel asked.
"Probably, Adam, you got any handcuffs or rope?"
"You can't be serious," Rachel said loudly.
"Afraid I am," Seras said and moved forward as Rachel reached for her gun, Seras grabbed her by the upper arm and twisted her off her feet and onto the ground dragging her arm behind her back easily pulling the pistol from her grip tossing it aside to Adam.
"I'm on your side!"
"Maybe, but I'm not about to take chances, if we're going to a reactor you're staying up here, if that thing suddenly explodes we all die not just Adam and Seras. Got it?"
Adam took the pistol and went to another computer which looked like it had been smashed and ripped from the outlets. He shrugged and grabbed the wires bringing them to Seras, that'll have to work. "So what the hell is a McDonalds Hamburger and a... slightly less appetizing sounding McDonalds Hamburger?" He asked curiously, better to actually understand what the hell they were going to face than go in empty. He looked over the pistol he was tossed, checking the chamber and getting a curious look on his face before dropping the mag to see no bullets he chuckled a bit at the thought, "The thing was empty, she was threatening us with an empty pistol." He replied tossing the gun away.
"Of course it is empty! I don't want to kill either of you it's just there so I could have some kind of security or a chance to run!"
"Shush I have to explain science to him!"
"What?! What are you talking about?!"
"A Fleshpounder is a really tall like 9 foot tall bugger with-"
"No! They're not what you once faced anymore!"
"What do you mean?"
"Get me to a computer and I'll show you, let me up!"
Seras took her knee off Rachels back who scrambled to her feet huffing and out of breath rushed to a computer quickly and brought up a CCTV feed from the lab down below where a Fleshpounder was currently slamming its gauntlets into a wall trying to break through to the surface, it looked like it had done a ton of damage so far.
"Thick boy there, the heck did Kevin do to them?"
"The original Fleshpounder wasn't enough, it wasn't strong or fast enough for my father so he enhanced these to be far stronger. Their less developed versions are the Quarterpounders which are about a foot shorter, just as beefy but less dangerous," Rachel said not noticing Seras walk behind her until she had both hands pulled behind her and Seras began tying her hands up, "please! I can help you!"
"Don't worry about it four eyes, I got this," Seras said with a smile and then finished tying her up and grabbed the ID card off Rachels jacket tossing it to Adam so he had access to the facility as well, "Alright nerd, we'll be heading down to take care of the reactor, you sit tight and we'll be back. Kay?!"
Seras motioned for Adam to come along and pushed the stairs door back open and then when Adam came through the door she looked back at him, a puzzled look on her face, "What was that thing you put in the computer?"
"Old remote hacking drive." He replied as he followed Seras down the stairs, he hoped his current armaments were going to be enough to take on whatever the hell they were heading to face. "Something Amy made back in the day. Hopefully my hacker friend got my message. If she's any good, and if we survive this we should get all the information we'll need to start operation bankrupt the fuck out of Umbrella." He loaded up his shotgun with another shell, this one he pushed into the chamber. "So technically we don't need to do what we need to do this but... I'm guessing you don't want those things getting out."
"I'd prefer if the fleshpounders stay inside, yes. If they're anything similar to the old ones then they would be like super tyrants that get more dangerous the more damaged and angrier they get. Bollocks to that I say," Seras said moving down the stairs, their descent would be smooth, these stairs were locked down all the way to the bottom, it seemed this Horzine lab was far more advanced than the other and the security measures were better off than the other one to keep an outbreak in rather than ravaging half a countryside with clots.
"Hacker friend is that loud music girl yeah? Just dawned on me that she was a new addition to the penthouse the other day, man that place is probably nice when it's not swarming with soldiers. When this is over I'd love to take up a room there, I bet it's peaceful," she was absent minded as usual, mostly thinking out loud even though she was talking toward him.
He shrugged, "I guess it is. Don't really pay much attention to that." He replied to her, before stopping and shaking his head, the hell was he talking about that for? "Yeah, the hacker girl, Jolie or something I think. She's how I found out about this place and the potential connection to Umbrella." Thank god this place had better tech to keep infections contained than most Umbrella facilities he'd been in. "This was the only link she could find, hopefully after we get back that all changes."
They got back to the lobby and Seras opened the door leading them both out, she looked around and headed for the elevator, the only way into the basement, "Hopefully there's nothing in the elevator when I open it or else I'm going to probably piss my pants in terror," everything she said seemed either sarcastic or just out of place cheerful. There was one elevator different than the others, this one was an express elevator that required a keycard, she assumed it only went down and up from the basement. She slid the card under the scanner and it dinged opening it and the elevator was empty.
"You think we have any bath bombs back at the penthouse?" Seras asked stepping into the elevator, "I really like coconut and vanilla scents I think it would be awesome to just smell like that all day."
He shrugged, a very 'beat's me' look was on his face. He hated elevators so damn much and it showed as he hesitated to step in. He sighed and took a quick breath before finally stepping in, walking behind her and with one hand on his pistol... his other hand gripped the hand rail. He hated this, the fact that they were in a metal box and they were rushing into a horde. But most of all he hated the feeling an elevator gave him, that uneasy feeling that the damn thing would get stuck or just straight up fall. God this sucked, hopefully it would be over quickly and hopefully tey weren't over run the moment the damn doors opened.
Seras was leaning on the corner as the elevator was going down, she was whistling something vaguely familiar as they traveled what felt like maybe three stories down and then came to a halt the doors didn't open at once instead the entire compartment hissed and decompressed and then finally the doors opened and all at once they could hear roaring and screaming from beyond the elevator. Seras pulled her rifle up as the doors fully opened only to be faced with a hallway that lead to another door where something was beating on the other side, the door was solid metal but on this side of it there were clear imprints from something that had been beating on it.
"I'm starting to think that this reactor can honestly go blow itself, that's terrifying look at it bulging," Seras raised her weapon, "alright we're going hot!"
She opened fire on the door punching a hole clean through it, the noise in the hallway was exceptionally loud even for her causing her to wince and yell out, "BAD IDEA!"
It was then that she realized there was other ways to go it just blended in with the solid white walls, she then began moving forward with her left hand digging in her ear trying to get her ears to stop ringing. She peered down the right hallway into a large room that lead into other areas and then the left which was much the same, lab equipment and computers. The hold in the door allowed far more roaring to be heard, it was mechanical sounding but there was also several arms that came through the door suddenly as something tried to pull itself through then it was beat against the hole forcing the arms through but everything else was gore and guts that followed.
