"You still haven't discovered the location of your daughter or your wife," Himura said to him, they were standing in Himura's office, he was sitting behind the desk with his body slumped to the left his head boredly leaning into his left hand as he casually looked Birkin over who was standing in the middle of the room with his hands at his side. He looked very nervous, "I think it's time to step down, you have been nothing more than a disappointment recently. Go back to your lab and await details. Get out of my sight."
"You... You can't be serious," Birkin said loudly, "I am being punished because your ExCell can't get information on my wife or daughter?"
"You are being punished because I gave you a job and your personal detachment of my soldiers failed to secure Ocelot or your wife," Himura said calmly, "your daughter... I've already got that one handled."
Birkin narrowed his eyes at Himura, "what do you mean?"
Himura smiled, "I know her location, ExCell is currently in route to capture her."
"Where is she," Birkin demanded, which brought a smile to Hija's face.
"She's just entered the city to aid in the recovery program," Hija replied, "I imagine she wont be fond of working for us, but she'll have no choice as the next 1300 series."
"Leave my daughter out of this," Birkin said, his eyes narrowed, he didn't give a fuck if Hija Himura could break him in half, he was going to stand his ground here. Threaten him or his wife, that didn't matter, Sherry was out of the question here, it was an unspoken agreement between the two of them since they started working together. In recent years Himura had grown bored of Birkin however, and Himura didn't give a shit about their agreement anymore, especially if it tormented Birkin.
"Or What?"
The two stared at one another for a minute and then Birkin turned away from Himura and walked to the door, "I'll accept my demotion. If you lay a hand on my daughter however, there will be hell to pay."
"You're more interesting when you're angry," Himura said, "let the games begin Mr. Birkin."
Birkin looked over his shoulder at Himura seeing the grin on his face then raised his hand to the door panel opening it and left the room. The moment he heard the door close he began sprinting back to his office at full speed, by the time he arrived he was out of breath and sweating but he had little time. He slid to his computer console opening a secure line using a direct message system that hadn't been used in decades forwarding a message to the only people he could trust, coincidentally also the same people who wanted him dead.
"I am William Birkin, I am defecting from Umbrella in order to save my daughter, Sherry Birkin, from Hija Himura, she is in the city, I haven't seen her in about ten years but I am attaching the last picture I have of her onto this message. You have to protect her, she is compatible with the perfected Type G Virus and if she enters Hija Himura's hands he will turn her into an Omega Level Tyrant. If you rescue her, I will hand myself over. That is my promise."
He sent the message through the system then grabbed his gun putting it in his pocket and headed out of the office rushing down the hall to the lab. He needed to get ahead of Himura, he needed to get his hands on his research before Himura used it against him. Birkin practically pulled the slide door open as he got to the lab, the lights turned on and he grabbed a metal briefcase and moved to the sample room grabbing several G samples and put them in the case. He heard the door slide open and looked up seeing Himura standing there with his hands in his pockets.
"Birkin," Himura said with that same grin on his face, "I hear you sent a message to Wonderland from your personal terminal."
Birkin pointed at Himura, "I ONLY DID IT BECAUSE YOU FUCKING PUSHED ME TO THIS! I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD YOU JUST LEFT MY DAUGHTER OUT OF THIS!"
"Touching, twenty plus years and now you decide to act like a father," Himura said with a bit of a chuckle to his voice as he finished his sentence.
"I WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE AFTER G WAS PERFECTED! I WOULD HAVE HAD YOU NOT DEMANDED MORE!"
"You are married to your work, don't lie to me," Himura said taking his hands out of his pockets, "you don't get to leave here alive."
"Then come and get me," Birkin said, he was holding a vial that was labeled Alpha G Virus, he turned away from Himura grabbing a syringe and stuck it into the top of the vial pulling the sample into the syringe then drove it into his chest pushing down the plunger injecting himself with the Virus, Himura simply watched and let him. Birkin yelled loudly, his veins were on fire as the virus went through his bloodstream, he turned toward Himura and began sprinting toward him.
Himura slid his left foot out slightly, when Birkin was in range he twisted his body low then lifted his left knee up into his stomach stopping Birkin in his tracks, he hadn't even put his left foot down as his left hand grabbed Birkin by the face and threw him back onto the ground. Himura fell forward putting that knee into Birkins chest and began slamming his right fist into his face over and over again until Birkin was out cold. He grabbed Birkin by the ankle and began dragging him but the scientist rapidly woke up pushing his hands off the ground throwing his body into the air as he landed on Himura's back biting into his neck with a growl.
Himura grabbed his arm twisted him and slammed him into the ground then kicked him in the chest sending him through the steel door into the hall. Several security soldiers raised their weapons at Birkin who was yelling loudly but Himura stepped out into the hallway and grabbed him by the throat as he went to leap on him then slammed him into the wall and threw him down the hall. Birkin landed on his chest but scrambled onto his hands and feet sprinting away from Himura now that he could see a way out. Himura chuckled and nodded his head toward the fleeing Birkin.
"After him," Himura said.
Birkin was rushing to the main facility tram system, he just needed to escape the facility, from there he could easily lose them in the sewers. The HIVE was on lock down but he had upper clearance and knew all the work arounds. He made it to the front desk pushing the girl behind the desk out of the way and began typing into her computer rapidly, the doors opened despite being on lock down, he could hear the USS moving in the hall, he grabbed his gun and stepped out opening fire hitting one of them and then turned away as the other two fired on him, they missed only because they stumbled over their lead guy. He was out the facility and dove off the platform down into the darkness where the lower sewers were located.
"We've lost him sir," said a USS soldier over the radio.
"That's fine, focus on securing his samples," Himura replied setting his radio down, "let's see what you do next."
"You... You can't be serious," Birkin said loudly, "I am being punished because your ExCell can't get information on my wife or daughter?"
