"The places I've gone to a hell you'll never understand, the things I've done in war are nothing compared to what I've done to your friends," he said to the man hanging in the middle of the room by a chain wrapped around his left ankle. His friend was hanging not far away with his skull blown apart, his brains littering the floor, his intestines spilling out of his exposed cut stomach, his left arm had been crudely cut off at the elbow and cauterized with a torch, "now you're going to tell me what you know about Danny Reaper."
The first record of a Daniel Rogers entered the public domain under the United States military branches, which one was redacted months later as he entered into the eye of the special forces. He was trained by old mercenary brats who had been in the middle east for years before Desert Storm began. They were already legends in their own fields training the next generation of legends that would never be known in the public domain. They were dogs without a home building armies for the strongest military in the world.
They all got code names as they stood on the line, each one something childish. They didn't know their real names would be replaced with what they became after their first missions. War was on the horizon, and the man once known as Daniel Rogers entered the war under the name Mr. Sunshine.
An unknown operation never seeing the face of day on the public media. The unit he was assigned to went into a conclave to rescue hostages and only one single person exited the building on an ambush. They said what he did in that complex to survive was the Grim Reapers work. Mr. Sunshine disappeared and The Reaper entered military records.
Operation Sundown occurred toward the end of the Gulf War and brought the end of the conflict soon after. The Reaper and his new team entered into Iraq forcing its way through a warzone of rebels moving on the capital and entered the guarded complex of Saddam Hussein. The unit cut its way through the halls and through Hussein's body guards to get to him. They cornered the president of Iraq in his office and Reaper himself approached him handing over documents passed on to him. They said no words to one another, instead he turned and his team exited the way they came stepping over bodies and exited the facility. The war came to an end soon after.
Iraqi Kurdish Civil War
Reaper and his team remained stationed in the middle east, he became involved in behind the scenes operations which eventually lead to the start of the war in an attempt to assassinate Saddam Hussein. The tensions on both sides of the civil war caused a massive influx of shadow ops in order to keep both sides from throttling one another.
Saddam Hussein's Assassination, 2003
The invasion of Iraq occurred after terrorist attacks in 2001. The outbreak hit the United States in 2002 causing many of its military to be pulled back to the states to handle the situation there. Without the backing of its military the SEAL team six unit under Reapers command continued to operate with the UN. Reaper was in position with his team on a raid that ended the president of Iraq and took out fifty-six of his men in the process. The operation being complete put the long time career Special Forces unit into retirement as they were sent home soon after.
The government witnessed its first breakdown in power in 2004 as the military couldn't stop major cities from being taken over by the virus. They were overwhelmed despite their success rates in many other cities. Reaper survived a horde in New York where three units were holding a major intersection constantly gunning down Zeds running in their direction. This was the only way they knew to combat the swarm, the men in the middle of the mountains of bodies had said their peace to god, said their goodbyes to family, and had been blessed on their helicopter rides knowing it may be their last rights.
The gunfire and screams of the dead were deafening but Reaper's commanding officer moved to him hitting him on the shoulder hard to get his attention.
Reaper moved away from the line and headed for the helicopter where he got on the radio putting on the headphones deafening the sounds around him finally.
"Hello," he said, his voice deep and husky.
"Mr. Reaper. We have a job for you..."
"So you're telling me you know nothing, except you have information that no one else should have," he said wiping the blood off his knife.
"I'm telling you the fucking truth man," the hanging guy said, he was swaying in and out of the light now, he had tattoos that clearly marked him as one of Zambi's cartel.
"Are you sure?"
"I'm fucking sure," he said swaying as he struggled with his arms.
Reaper clicked his tongue and shook his head, "that's too bad. I thought you would be useful to me, but I guess I'll have to find another one."
"Please man! Please!"
He pressed the knife into the hanging mans throat and pulled it across cutting through the flesh. The mans blood spilled across the ground and he choked loudly as Reaper wiped his knife off and began to whistle a tune and moved back through the room grabbing someone else and pulled them into the center of the room where he easily lifted them up under their shoulders and caught a hook with their wrist bindings and let go ripping their shoulders out the sockets as the new person hung from another chair by a hook.
He was yelling as Reaper calmly pat him on the cheek a few times to get his attention, "what do you know, about Danny Reaper?"
